AC/DC Returns After Long Break

This announcement comes four months after AC/DC made their triumphant return to the stage with a performance at Power Trip Festival. The performance was the Australian rockers’ first concert since 2016, ending the longest period without a show in their career.

This Power Trip set was also AC/DC’s first performance since the death of founding member Malcolm Young. He was replaced as rhythm guitarist by his nephew Stevie Young, who also played on the group’s 2020 album Power Up.

AC/DC has not yet toured in support of Power Up. The album was recorded in 2018 and 2019, but was released in 2020, just as the live music industry was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was when Johnson, who had suffered from severe hearing loss for many years, was also testing experimental hearing aid technology. At the time, he wasn’t sure if he would work with AC/DC again, but he had some success with several guest appearances – one of which was memorable.

A performance at the Taylor Hawkins memorial concert in London convinced Johnson that he could tour again.

POWER UP will be the band’s first European tour in eight years and will see them playing some of the continent’s biggest stadiums. Tickets for the show will be on sale from 10am on February 16, 2024.
