Pudhumai Penn scheme
Department of Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, Government of Tamil Nadu has launched the scheme. Scheme was launched to increase the enrollment of girls from government schools into higher education institutions. The rate of female students in public schools going on to higher education is extremely low. In order to promote higher education for female students from economically weak families, the “ Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme ” was established.
Benefits of Pudhumai Penn scheme
- All students who studied from class 6 to class 12 in government schools will receive ₹1,000 per month till they complete their undergraduate, diploma, ITI and other recognized courses.
- Funds under this scheme are paid directly into students’ bank accounts.
- Students are eligible to receive this scholarship in addition to other scholarships.
Eligibility of Pudhumai Penn scheme
- Applicant must be a resident of Tamil Nadu.
- This scheme is for only girl student.
- This is applicable to all students who have studied in government schools in Tamil Nadu from class 6 to class 12.
- This support can be extended to any number of female students in the family pursuing higher education at recognized institutions/universities.
- Students must complete their education in accredited courses and colleges.
- Only the first degree will be considered as a qualifying factor.
